Sex Offender Deregistration

The public may need to be warned about violent sexual predators.
The public probably doesn't need to be as alarmed in cases of consensual - but nevertheless illegal - statutory rape.

There are limited situations in which a personal convicted of a registrable sex offense can petition the court to excuse sex offender registration. Young adults have a very narrow eligibility for de-registration, and juvenile courts have the option of deferring, exempting or de-registering children adjudicated for sex offenses.
