Vivek Jain Financial Manager EDUCATION University of Texas at Austin HIRED August 2006 Personal Info Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Vivek comes fully equipped with big city savvy and attitude. He drives his car with zest, knows where he’s going and what he’s doing and unless you get a substantial head start, the marriage of his quick tongue and sense of humor is sure to catch up with you. “Watch yourself, kid,” he’ll warn anyone he encounters in the hallway, even though, at 19, he is the youngest member of the office. Luckily, he is also charming and professional. His confident manner and upbeat nature give him the air of a much older co-worker who has it all figured out. And indeed, he does have much of it figured out. Vivek began working as a part-time accountant at Sumpter & González in August of 2006, before the beginning of his sophomore year at UT. He’s happy to be cutting checks at a prestigious Austin law firm, even before graduating. His accounting work did not start here, however. He was working in his field even before graduating from high school, serving as accountant and money manager for his parents business in Houston. Vivek grew up speaking both English and Hindi and maintains a close relationship with his family in Houston. He has made his parents proud as an employee and a son, although his dietary habits reflect his religious beliefs less closely than perhaps they’d like. Vivek identifies as Hindu, but just cannot be dissuaded from his love of chicken. He also enjoys watching television with friends, listening to music with friends, and giving just about everybody a hard time. He hopes to enter the corporate world after obtaining his bachelor’s degree from UT.
