Born in Austin, Texas, Crissy Gunn embodies the progressive spirit of the city with all its rugged individualism and sophisticated intellectualism. She takes her work seriously, she takes her hobbies seriously, and she makes a point of acquiring as much information as possible. She knows politics, music, nature, history, technology, literature, comedy, and when it comes to Sumpter & González, she knows everything.

She met David González while working for Phillips and Prikryl, L.L.P. He was sharing office space with them at the time, and before long convinced her to help with his bookkeeping. Years after he moved out of that office, Crissy called to ask if she could list him as a reference. Never one to pass up an opportunity, he asked why and offered her a job on the spot.

Having been part of the operation from the beginning, Crissy is an essential component of the S&G support staff. She acts as paralegal, assistant, office manager, human encyclopedia of all required knowledge general and specific all while also filling in any gaps that work their way into our office. She consistently elevates the Firm’s productivity and capability by structuring and directing day-to-day office matters. From making sure that the attorneys have everything prepared for court, to drafting unusual motions, to keeping up with each client’s needs, Crissy manages a hectic schedule with her characteristically down-to-earth approach.

Even while working like the dickens her unique personality finds its way into each interaction she has with co-workers and clients. Her subtle jokes about a name, a number, a song on the radio or an odd fact hint at vast cultural knowledge. She reads everything from Aristotle to Kurt Vonnegut. She listens to every kind of music worth listening to. She takes pictures, she plays field hockey, she owns and cares for three mammoth dogs, one nearly-mammoth dog and an average-sized cat.

Growing up with three older brothers taught Crissy to be both tough and caring. She commands respect and will not sacrifice it for her own or anyone else’s advantage, but she also does everything in her power to ensure that everyone around her has to the chance to make the most of themselves.

Crissy is currently working on her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Texas. When she gets a break from school and work she likes to travel outside the United States to places like Mexico, Jamaica, England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, South Africa, and Mozambique. She loves her country, though, and shows her appreciation by also traveling within its borders to participate in such events as the Million Woman March in Washington D.C. Luckily, she has come back to Austin after each trip. If she did not, everyone at S&G would have to work ten times harder just to approximate the productivity she brings to the Firm.
