Born in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Alison grew up on the small island, but did not let it stop her from developing intellect and experience that expands far beyond that somewhat isolated locale. She attended Brown University as an undergraduate and earned a degree in Hispanic Studies & Linguistics while also serving as an active member of Phi Beta Kappa. She has lived abroad in both France and Spain, visited India and traveled around the United States.

She did not have a definite reason to choose Austin, Texas from among all her various options, but her explorative intuition suggested it. That intuition has played a key role in the success she has had at Sumpter & González. Starting as a part-time receptionist, it did not take long for her supervisors to recognize the careful, thorough and perceptive qualities she brought to every assignment. In order to utilize her talents to the Firm’s best advantage, they made her an investigator. She works with attorneys to compile evidence that they may later use to defend a client in court. Alison’s insight and love of discovery allows her to get acquainted with our clients and help them present their most admirable traits during every step of the legal process, from pre-trial interviews to plea negotiations.

The investigator position has fostered her continuing desire for new knowledge. To become fully qualified for her work she has sought further education in the form of a social work class at UT and an intensive seminar on the Reid Method of interrogation often used by law enforcement officials. In addition to her investigative work and continuing education, Alison is currently directing a project to develop a mentor program for juveniles facing criminal charges. She hopes that the program will provide additional support to young clients in need of positive reinforcement.

Aside from the work she does at Sumpter & González, Alison is an accomplished photographer, writer and artist. She is a voracious reader. She is a talented recyclist/reuser. With her unending skills and talents, she brings a visionary quality to work with her that coincides with the Firm’s most ambitious goals and most practical needs. The role she plays in the office assures that our clients will receive the most sensitive and considerate representation possible.
