There is no case more difficult to defend than a child abuse case.
Categorically speaking, there are generally defensive issues in murder cases (self-defense) or mitigation issues in capital murder (mental illness, lack of future dangerousness). There is no legal or moral defense to child molestation. Even when the perpetrator himself was molested or abused as a child, the law provides no solace or refuge from a person who hurts an innocent child.
