What Our Clients Say - Testimonials

Internship Programs

We are committed to growing and being progressive in the way that we approach criminal defense. One of the ways that we are able to do this is by having a robust and rich practical education program.

As we continue to work toward a practice that houses emerging professionals that represent every area that overlaps the criminal justice system, we engage with academic institutions to provide an educationally-fulfilling experience for students.

Our internship programs benefit everyone involved. Our clients receive unsurpassed representation and support. Our students gain professional experience and improve their skills as emerging practitioners. We learn from our students’ classroom experience to better meet the needs of our clients, and also have the opportunity to influence the classroom with a paradigm shift that we believe is greatly needed in the criminal justice system.

As a student in one of our internship programs, you can expect that you will be held to a high standard of performance. You will be exposed to a wealth of practical experience and will be treated as an emerging professional – not “just an intern.” You will be expected to fully contribute as a member of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team and your daily work product will be valued as an essential component of our work.

Currently, we have placements available for first and second year MSW students, Psychology doctoral candidates, Criminal Justice students, Investigation/Journalism students, and Graphic Design students.

If you are interested in an internship with Sumpter & Gonzalez and feel that you are a potential candidate for a placement in our firm, please contact your academic institution to see if they will support your academic pursuits.
