Because of the gravity of capital crimes, the Firm never takes more than one capital case at a time. Every single staff member in our office is involved in the defense of a capital case. From the receptionist to the managing partner, we work together in furtherance of our non-negotiable stance that for even the most heinous crimes it is never acceptable for the government to teach people that killing is wrong by executing them.
Before the State files a Notice of Intent to Seek the Death Penalty, our defense and mitigation teams work immediately to gather as much information that may persuade the district attorney's office not to seek the death penalty. Even when capital murder charges are eventually dropped as a result of our investigation, we believe that mitigation investigation is the most important part of capital defense. |
